All through the month of April, either I was too busy or else the weather didn’t cooperate. It’s now May, and I FINALLY got my first kite-flying experience of the year.
I had some free time this afternoon before piano lessons, so I invited Teri and Bristol over to fly with me. Teri was hesitant because she didn’t “know how to fly a kite.” I told her that was silly and she’d have to learn because I had three kites.
They arrived, and Bristol picked out the Cars kite. Teri didn’t want to choose one because she didn’t want to fly, so I made her take the Toy Story kite. I was left with the Spider-Man kite.
When we got outside, it was a little too windy. I was trying to help Bristol, and my kite started flying away, so Teri started helping Bristol so I could get mine started.
Teri eventually took her kite inside so that she could just help Bristol (quitter!). I finally got mine to take flight, too!
Bristol decided that he needed to help me for a while, so he ditched Teri with “Lightning” and came to help me get Spider-Man flying better. I handed it over to him, and he sat and flew it for a little while. The wind had calmed enough that we kept them up for a LONG time. The sight of Bristol with the kite string completely unraveled and the kite way up in the air was cute, so I had to take several pictures. I finally got one that I liked. I fell on my butt trying to take it, too. I think I covered and made it look like I meant to sit, though…
Kite-flying is awesome! (Oh, and I’m pretty sure Teri made up that crud about not being able to fly a kite. She kept hers up WAY longer than I kept mine…)
I love the pictures! What a fun day! I currently have my most awesome kite (hand-painted from China) hanging in my room because I'm scared to fly it, but I may have to go out and buy a non-worrisome kite soon. :)
ReplyDeletePS: You're the bedst. Which is my security word. ;)
That's what she said.
ReplyDeletePicture = adorable.
I have an insanely expensive and gorgeous kite waiting to be mailed to Dev in Utah for his birthday - which was last month. This post makes me was to justify keeping it ( hey, it's already dreadfully late anyway right?).
ReplyDeleteJeremy! That was so fun! Don't be mean to me just because you're jealous, you can keep yours up too... :)
ReplyDeleteI didn't even see you "sit" down. So, I think you're good. Unless the people slowing down to watch did. I LOVE that picture btw.
