The other night, I was having a rough rehearsal. I was feeling really bad about myself. My throat was sore (dumb allergies), and I couldn't sing to save my life. Then, I didn't really get good feedback after the run, which solidified how I was feeling. I left rehearsal with my head down, feeling like a picked-on Charlie Brown.
I got in my car, and randomly flipped through playlists and put one on shuffle. Within a few songs, I was completely happy and positive about life. In the past, I've had playlists for angry music and sad music, but never happy music. I decided to change that. I'm in the process of compiling songs that can make me happy no matter how upset I am. Some are genuinely happy songs, others just have good memories associated with them. In any event, I figure that if I can keep them together on one playlist, it'll be like my own musical anti-depressant. When it's all done, I'll probably share my list on here (and by "probably," I mean there's only a slight chance).
In the meantime, here are a few of the songs (and I got DIRTY looks for blasting the second one with the windows down in the drive-thru line at Del Taco):
