PSA: It’s Beginning to Look a Lot Like…Thanksgiving?!

There is NOTHING wrong with people celebrating Christmas before Thanksgiving.

When people listen to Christmas music, they are not forcing you to listen to it. It’s not affecting you. (If you ARE being forced to listen to music against your will, there are MUCH worse things you could be forced to hear. Like country music.)

When people put their decorations up inside their house, it’s not affecting you.

When people watch Christmas movies/specials, it’s not affecting you.

When stores put their Christmas items out before Halloween so that people can plan ahead of time, it’s not a big deal. (Just like when they put each season’s clothes out BEFORE that season arrives.)

When somebody does any of these things, it doesn’t mean that they’re anti-Thanksgiving.

It doesn’t mean that they’re not grateful.

It doesn’t mean that they’re pushing an agenda on you.

So, please: stop lecturing people about it.

Stop trying to make others feel bad because they want to celebrate Jesus, Santa, Rudolph, or whatever else they celebrate a little more than just the 3 1/2 weeks between Thanksgiving and Christmas.

Stop acting like you are an amazing specimen of humanity because you wait until Thanksgiving.

Stop forgetting that this season is referred to as “the holidays” for a reason.

And remember, Hanukkah actually starts BEFORE Thanksgiving this year, so if you tell somebody that they’re a terrible person for ignoring Thanksgiving, be prepared for a lecture from me about how you must be anti-Semite for skipping Hanukkah for Thanksgiving.

Thank you.
