Random Musings in the Middle of the Night

I can't decide if I like Dirt or not. I should, I really should. Courtney Cox is playing Gail Weathers- and I LOVE Scream. It's clearly trying to be just like Nip/Tuck in order to capitalize on the popularity of it- and I LOVE Nip/Tuck. And the best part- it's all about tabloid magazines. I used to LOVE tabloids. I read them all the time at my Aunt Vicki's house when I was little. And when I was in the hospital after my appendectomy at the age of 12, my mom bought me my own issue of Star from the hospital gift shop. The cover story was about Daryl Hannah's eleventh finger that she hides with gloves. But, I digress. This is about me questioning my liking of Dirt. I felt the same way about season 4 of Nip/Tuck when it started, so maybe that's a good sign. Maybe Dirt needs Brooke Shields to come on and get a tattoo. Maybe a character needs to have an affair with a midget. Maybe the schizophrenic guy needs to stop seeing the dead girl. Maybe, as Matt suggested to me, it just needs to give at least ONE of its characters a redeeming quality. Has anybody else watched it? If so, what did you think?

The communication among certain people in my theatre department is DISGUSTING. Not any of the powers that be, or even the teachers- but some of the students with leadership positions drive me up the wall. And it really pisses me off that they do things that keep me from doing my job as a stage manager successfully. Don't get me wrong- I officially HATE stage managing. But whether I'm enjoying it or not, I want to do the best job that I can, and I want the show to be good. And I love the majority of the cast. There are some fun people in it.

Speaking of the cast of O, Pioneers!- I was given all of the audition forms and resumes this week, and I had fun reading them. One that really was fun, was that of a person who claimed on their experience that they were the lead in a certain show. I music directed said show, and this person was only in the ensemble. They also claimed that they had a really good role in a show while they were in high school. This show didn't even open on Broadway until 2 years after this person graduated high school. Now I'm really curious as to how many people lied on their resumes. If this person was dumb enough to blatantly lie like that knowing that I'm part of the department, what other kinds of fabrications could be on those forms? Hmm...

I love my new TV so much that it's disgusting. I used my birthday money from my mom towards an upconverting DVD Recorder/VCR so that I can watch DVDs (and supposedly videos as well) in actual HD. I'm stoked. It should be here by the end of next week. I'm hoping to get HD Dish Network soon, too. I'm hardly ever home to watch TV anymore, but dangit! When I get to watch it, I want it to be in all its digital glory!!!

I hate homework. So far the majority of my homework this semester has felt like nothing but busywork. Even the classes where I assumed most of the work would be done in class have found ways to give me busy work. Dirty flastards.

I got some really cool stuff for my birthday. Thanks to Stephanie and Kimber, my TV room is now being watched over by a magical pink unicorn and an evil monkey. Julie gave me a really cool Batman pillow buddy, too (see my pictures). I got other really cool gifts, too, but those are the ones that I'm looking at right now. I just turned my head and saw the DVDs that Stasia gave me, too. Hooray for great surprises. The stuff I got was MUCH better than if I had given them lists of stuff to get me.

I love my current Institute class/teacher. This is the fourth time I've taken a class from Brother Lewis- but the first since I was really into the Church and not just going through the motions. Go figure- you get SO much more out of Institute this way. :)

Oh, my good heck! A character on Dirt just let his/her finger get cut off just so he/she could get into the hospital to get dirt on a celebrity. I think I'm going to throw up.

And with that, I think I'm done with my random musings. Enjoy a nice video flashback to the 90s courtesy of Youtube.
